Happy Birthday Ellen
Can't let the day pass without wishing our girl a happy b-day!
Mom, Dad, and Megan stopped by the cemetery and did some nice planting (all yellow flowers--which in theory the deer don't eat)
It looks really nice. I'm debating about posting a pic (we took pix so we could show Nancy who could not join us cause she was getting our dinner ready and also had Aiden with her) Anyway, trying to decide if posting a pic is too much--but it really does look pretty so i might. (update: after adding a picture and seeing it prominently at the top of the post, i decided i don't like it overwhelming the post. I have put in a link to photobucket mom had the idea to plant some of the taller flowers just behind the stone--it looks great that way. Of course, now we are wondering whether we have broken some rule--we'll wait and see what happens. another link with another pic so those of you who WANT to see how pretty it looks can go there to see--and those of you who don't, won't have the pic hitting you in the face every time you open the blog. That's my solution. . . ) BTW if anyone has a good electronic pic of Ellen, e-mail to me, i'd like to put that with this post
The perennials have continued nicely. It gets primroses and daffodils in teh spring, mums in the fall. Although Ellen never gave up, she really was a terrible gardener (she would say the same, so I'm not being mean) So the irony is, that this is probably the nicest garden she ever had! Anyway, i know we're all thinking about her today--sso i wanted to put up a post
We had strawberry/angelfood cake for dessert at Nancy's --it reminded me of the cheesecake towers she loved
It was always easy to get her a present--she had so many different interests--whether it was supplies for some craft project from AC moore, a mary higgins clarke book, something with turquoise--don't know why i'm listing these things-- guess i just want to remember. Anyway--i know she's on your mind too. She wouldn't want us to be sad, but she'd be pissed if we didn't remember! :)
She wasn't here for many birthdays, but she sure made the years count.

Thanks for your pics and your memories of Ellen. I remembr we would joke about being the same age until it was her birthday.
