Well--we may not have a field full of synchronized drummers--but we have had the equivalent of our Opening Ceremonies--the pomp and pageantry that befit the occasion were captured in our own version--which we fondly call "packing." The advance guard (Nancy, Mom, Dad) are going down in Nancy's vehicle. Because our LIB group is growing, Nancy is packing several sleeping bags, some air mattresses, and, some "staples." You know the expresssion 'everything but the kitchen sink"? Well, in Nancy's case, she takes it literally and packs everything in her kitchen EXCEPT the sink. And if she could find portable plumbing, i think she'd pack that, too. Still, she was confident that with the luggage shell and the fact that a beach week does not require much in the way of luggage, that she could fit mom and dad's stuff in easily. . . .until Mom called and announced "We might have a little more luggage than we though we would." Let's deconstruct that sentence. Since we know Mom is already packed, where does the "might" come in? Either there is more or there isn't. Does she think the luggage gremlins are going to add suitcases when she isn't looking? Then there is the logical fallacy of "a little more." What's a little more? An overnight bag? If that were true, it wouldn't be worth mentioning. So when she says "a little more" she must mean at least another suitcase. In which case, it is not "a little more." See the problem? Not to worry. Team 2 (megan) will check in with LIBCOM before leaving on Sunday and receive instructions about transporting the "little more" that might not fit in nancy's car. Nancy is not leaving her spice tackle box behind, you can be sure, and the sleeping bags and air mattresses are necessities, so i'm guessing the suitcase full of backup pants and shirts that mom is packing will be left behind. Mom and Dad will just have to pace themselves and not wear the five outfits in the original suitcase all in the first day.
Their EDT is 830--i expect to be posting their actual departure time "a litlle later" than that. I trust i do not need to educate DIMs on the Mahoney Time reality of "a little later." I'm just hoping they arrive at the house in time to let Michael in . . .

Very witty post, Megan. Well done! I know you will all have a great time. I am terribly jealous, but look forward to the LIBBLOGS.
I helped my mom pack she had room when she left. Mom told me that Grammy and Papa only have one suitcase it will be enough room. I am also bringing things of hers when I come, I am sure i will get a phone call by the time I leave asking me to bring more. (maybe the sink)
Jeffrey--you win the award for "most participatory youngun" on the blog! Katie promised to post, and didn't. Patrick sent an e-mail that had to be translated into a post . . . love your comments--keep 'em coming
