Michael Mahoney is DIM

This just goes to show the power of the blog! Michael read the chatter about the LBI trip on the blog and in an effort that rivaled the original DIM organization, sprang into action! In a demonstration of pro-activity and resourcefulness (that probably amazes his parents) he organized, in fewer than 24 hours, a way to get there for saturday thru tuesday. Way to go Michael! But let this be a lesson to us "experienced" DIMs. We should no longer assume that if we tell the brothers and sisters, the next geneation will know. First of all, the "younguns" outnumber us now (kind of scary), and second of all have developed a community of their own that no longer requires our full participation. So apologies to all the "younguns" that we didn't alert you to the LBI trip--we should not have assumed that the "experienced DIMs" who declined were also declining for their children. Lesson learned. Now that everyone of every age is on the e-mail distribution and the blog, we should not experience this problem again. At the time of this writing, brendan b's attendance is still in question--we recently learned he is "offline" until next week. However, katie and michael have his cell number and are in contact to see if it works with bb' s start of school sked. Fact is, there may be more going on at opening weekend of college than even the LIBs can rival. (Hard to believe, but possible) Then there is the problem of those silly classes they expect college kids to attend. . So now the question is, will more DIMs become LIBs? Stay tuned! Be DIM or be dull!
