Dad graduated from midshipman's school in Riverside Church--that's where i got my guess. However, it's wrong, because as Dad points out, he would have been wearing his dress uniform, not his ordinary uniform. Kevin knows because Dad told him.
Whoa! "Is this a dagger which I see before me..." Kevin has thrown down the Gauntlet of Wit! Megan has been challenged. "Such stuff as dreams are made on..."
Kevin, maybe you will provoke a response from your kids. Does Betty agree with your claim too?!!
I think that is a great idea to put up some old photos. I don't have that many. Do you have some? Megan might have access to more than I do. Fun idea, though. And I might add the questions "why and how" to some of these old pix!!
we also have a family trivia section on the website that i keep meaning to populate--so we can do x-tech trivia Kevin, dad told you on the phone after the pic was posted. I was over there last night--i have this uncanny way of knowing things too--but this one was easy. Dad said "i was talking to kevin about the picture and i told him it wasn't riverside it was columbia"
I know about midshipman's school graduation because we went to the city for something and we went in to riverside church (because dad graduated from midshipman's school there) and we stood in the choir loft and dad described the procession to me. Then, when Mary had her concert there, Dad told us the story again. You guys have to remember--i lived home for an embarrassingly long time. . . but one of the perks is that i know a lot of stories. Be DIM or be denied. . . kevin!
Maureen - I'm impressed by how you work Shakespeare into your blog. I appreacite your attempt to bring a little culture to the group!
Megan - someone is having a senior moment - I don't know if it is you or Dad. Vetern's Day was Tuesday and the picture wasn't posted until Wednesday."A dagger of the mind, a false creation..."
BTW I couldn't make Mary's concert in NYC - so I don't remember that story. I'm telling you I just know things.
Kevin, about Megan, say you? "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." And thank you for keeping up the Shakespeare theme. I thought I might be fun to get a new thing going on the blog.
However, I need to confess that I was the one who posted the picture late. I thought of doing it on Tuesday, but didn't get to it until the morrow, Wednesday. Or as Macbeth said, "Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,"

I missed it too--and i thought of it over the weekend!!!!
ARGH
i'm guessing riverside church in NY
Where did you get that guess?!!
I think it is at Columbia University - near Riverside Church.
I'm impressed. How did you two know that?

That Kevin...so is it Columbia then? Right after midshipman's school?
Megan, your comments sound like sour grapes. How did you know that dad graduated from midshipmen school at Riverside church? Divine revelation?
Dad may have told me, but I have this uncanny ability of just knowing things - ask my kids.
Maureen maybe you can put more old pictures out there for people to guess who, what and where...

well, if we're looking for a shakespearean theme--i think someone's picture on this blog could pass as Falstaff. . . .
