Breaking the Cycle
I was wrapping up my week at work by looking at our blog and upon looking at the past 2 months, realized Megan has made 90% of the posts on here. Also the past 4 or 5 in a row have been all from Megan, so I figured I might as well break the ice with my first post, just to give Megan a break. I don't have anything exciting to report, but I can tell you I will probably spend the next 2 hours looking for gas. I don't know if the north or out west has experienced this, but for the past few days, all of our gas pumps are OUT of gas, completely. The only way to get gas is if you follow a gas tanker truck to the station and wait in line as everyone drains the gas station within an hour of getting filled up. The worst part is, you search and wait for 2 hours, only to come out of pocket $4/gallon. Since my job requires I drive everywhere, I have had to experience this cycle twice this week already, and am now looking forward to a joyful Friday afternoon gas hunt. Has anyone else experience this, or is this only in NC? Anyways, I am done with my rant on our gas crisis, but figured I should at least put something more interesting than that I was just "breaking the cycle" of Megan's posts. That's the report from Greensboro NC for the day, so Be DIM or Be Out of Gas!

Ouch! How long has that been going on? Haven't seen that kind of thing out west
.... but it's still $4.00 a gallon here.
Yay Michael! You're back! Thought we lost you!
Sorry about the gas thing--we have high prices (but not as high as yours--ours are just under 4) and although i may at times have to wait behind 5 cars at a cheap station--we have no shortage. . . yikes for you.
Can we mail you some do you think. . . ok that falls into the "use glow sticks as flotation devices category of good ideas. . .
Be DIM or be missed!
Glad to hear from you again (and your post got comments--i'm jealous!)
BTW, how do you find the tanker?
Do you just drive around til you see one? (that seems counterproductive; you probably use the gas you are about to buy. . . )
do you lurk by major highways til you see one?
that seems more effective?
What do the experts recommend is the best method for finding a tanker to follow?
Yeah, there really is no good method for following tankers. I had just got lucky the other day and was driving past a gas station as one was pulling in, but I would say the odds of that happening again are pretty slim. The best tactic is to drive around and if you see tons of traffic backed up at a gas station, they probably have gas. Lots of stations here have posted lower gas prices on their board, only for you to pull in and find there is no gas there, so I don't even bother to stop and look unless there is a line. Megan, I sense some sarcasm in your previous comment about mailng some gas, because I still stand by our glow stick safety precautions. If there is no sarcasm, then it sounds like a great idea and start sending some gas this way soon.
sarcasm?????? me????????
I have already called fedex to find out what kind of container we should use!
