They left last Saturday and should be arriving back in Florida this Saturday late afternoon. I have emailed/texted with them a few times and they seem to be having a blast. My father keeps sending me emails though to check his voicemail for him, to which I have nicely replied "stop worrying about voicemail and enjoy yourself." He continues to ask if I am "pressing the ** before or after his voicemail picks up." What he finally realized was he is charged $3 per incoming call regardless if he answers, so the 20 times I tried calling to figure out his voicemail, he could have just called and found out himself. So in typical Mahoney fashion, he has taken the most difficult route on something that he should have been ignoring anyways. Besides this contact though, I haven't had any pictures or updates really, just that they are having a good time and will fill me in when they return. Hopefully there will be plenty of pictures or updates when they return.

P.S. I am not sure where my sisters are, they are giving the NC Mahoney's a bad reputation by ignoring all the posts. I have been carrying our family, so Mary and Megan if you read this, I better see some type of comment at least saying you read it.

Thanks Michael--and fear not--you have more than carried the NC Mahoney reputation--but girls, we are interested in what you are doing as well. . .. . c'mon, i know you must do myspace and/or facebook--can't you spare us a minute or two?

Thanks for the update on your folks. The voicemail story hysterical. I may transfer it to a post, as i am not sure everyone reads comments. . . .thanks for catching us up
where did they go? What stops were on their itinerary?
How's the gas situation? It's getting really cheap here. We think it's the election.

They were traveling to several locations, I know they stopped in Cozumel, and some other place in Mexico. They were also making some stops in the Bahamas too. They can probably give you a better itenerary when they get back.

I thought the voicemail story was very funny as well....very typical for my father, haha. I'm sure once he reads this he will come back with his version of the story or some defense of why he needed to check it. I have asked him several times what could be so important on his voicemail that he needs me to keep checking it everyday when hes on his anniversary cruise. He just responds "are you waiting until it starts the voice mail before you hit the **?"

The gas situation is getting better here as well, prices have dropped some, but not a ton. Most gas stations have fuel now too, so thats good. Well I think this comment has gone long enough, Be DIM or be longwinded.

Here is an actual copied email that my father sent me. This is the extent of the communication I have had with them. I sent him an email asking how the vacaction was and what they have done, rather than give me any updates, pictures, etc, here is the response:

"we are having a great time - we just had a fabulous dinner. Tell you more later.

would you check my voice mail again? thsnks.

Kevin Mahoney"

That is too funny.Does he always sign his communications to you with his full name? Does he think you won't recognize "Dad"?
And yes, it is typical of your dad. We always joke about how he will end a phone conversation so abruptly. In the middle of a sentence he'll say "ok goodbye."
He is definitely full of love, but not very sentimental.
thanks for the update.
be dim or be. . .ok goodbye.
BTW can you check my voicemail?
(michael you know we're going to pay for this exchange)

Michael that story is too funny! Your father needs to take moretime off!

Michael Mahoney said...

yes megan I'm sure we will pay. I can't wait to hear my dads response. nancy you need to tell my dad he needs time off to come to NY for christmas. they should be arriving back on dry land anytime now, so now I can return to my everyday life that is free of constant voicemail checking. I wonder how long til he read these comments. be dim or check your voicemail!

OK, now that I'm getting caught up on blogging, & mind you I've only been away from it for a few days, I want to officially weigh in on the lack of participation from the South Eastern seabord.

Perhaps we need to look at this in a more organized way. If blogging or using the website were a new service to a business, there would be a whole plan for engaging the "users". Maybe we need to think about a regional approach. Blog (or maybe just technology) Champions for the West Coast, North East & South East. The West Coast (really the South West for our purposes) is obviously engaged, with both the Barracloughs & Brookes having a visible to highly visible presence.

The North East - well I think that speaks for itself. Even Papa's blogged.

The South East - with the SOLE exception of Michael Mahoney - is silent. Now Kristin's just had a baby, but she did send out pics via email & gets credit for that as participation given how little hands she has for typing or time to type with. But the rest of you - well let's just say - we're "disappointed". Mary & Megan - well no excuses for you at all. Kevin & Betty - your cruise pics & stories give you the perfect opportunity to boost the South East stats.

Michael - forgot to say LOVED your post! Had me in fits of giggles & when Cagatay wanted to know what I was laughing about I told him to go read the blog! Hope all is well w/ you!

susan i think you are right. I'm going to put on a push between now and Christmas---promotions, prizes--the whole thing.
Kevin--are you back? Did you get any voicemail?

Be DIM or be digital

Yeah - what voicemail were you expecting Kevin? I'm a self confessed work-a-holic (when I have a job of course) & even I disconnect w/in 2 days of vacation. Are you part of constructing the financial crisis solution planning? If so, please let's start a separate stream discussing that. Love to you both & hope the cruise is/was awesome. Hope to hear about it - Cagatay & I have always wondered about the cruise experience.

Love & for the love of DIM post already!
