Crisps, Guinness, and Ghosts
Hi! We are in York now. We drove through southern Scotland yesterday and stopped at Hadrian's Wall near the border with England. The Roman emperor, Hadrian built the wall with his legionnaires in about 122AD. Apparently to keep out the barbarian Picts of the north. It was fascinating to walk the Wall. Lots of sheep watching us, but not many tourists. Brendan and Jamie, even at their mature age, seemed to have fun chasing each other along the wall like a couple of ancient warriors.
Earlier in the day, in fact, just south of Edinburgh, we visited Rosslyn Chapel currently made famous by its inclusion in the Da Vinci code book and movie. It was very interesting and some very convincing evidence of its ties to the Knights Templar. More fooling around there, too.
Given the long day and lots of driving, I stocked up on multiple bags of English made crisps (our potato chips) which were devoured along the drive. However, if you give a guy some crisps, he is going to want some Guinness. And on and on...
We are in our B and B getting ready to go on a Ghost Tour of medieval York. It took a lot of convincing of my skeptical boys, but the owner of the B and B exclaimed that it is a "brilliant idea and they take you down knickerwocky lanes that you would never go by yourself". So, off we go. I will fill you in on our ghost tales next time.
Tomorrow we drive to Stratford-upon-Avon. Love to all!

Hadrian's Wall. So was Brendan wearing a cape and carrying a sword (as in his earlier Zorro days) ??
