Ghouls gone astray

So, we set out last night in plenty of time to catch the Ghost Hunt Tour in the Shambles of York. The Shambles is a medieval street in York where the butchers had their shops.  Supposedly, they built the second stories hanging way out over the street so that not too much sunlight came through. Hence, it cut down on the number of flies in the butcher shop area.  Sounds a bit like blarney, but in fact, the second story does hang out over the street just like in medieval times. So, we were told to meet the ghost tour guide in the Shambles.  We all followed Bruce because we thought he was navigating our route.  The fact that he was carrying the map was our clue. However, it turned out he was meandering and we were quickly lost. Remarkably, he stopped a passerby and asked for directions.  Except he asked for directions to the Jumbles.  rofl. Clearly, he was not on board with my interest in the Ghost Hunt.  The local man must be used to this kind of confusion, since he simply replied something to the effect, "That would be the Shambles" and redirected us on our quest.  We arrived in time and were treated to a rather hokey ghost tour.  The highlight for us happened when the tour guide said he needed some assistance from a tall, intelligent, and preferably good-looking young man.  As Jamie and Brendan were unmistakably the tallest men in the crowd, they were worried.  Brendan actually hunched over below Bruce.  Jamie was not so quick to hide his height and was asked to come to the aid of the tour guide.  He agreed good-naturedly to help at which point, he was asked to find someone who fit the afore-mentioned description.  He immediately pointed to Brendan.  lol. No luck, however, and he was at the mercy of the guide for the rest of the tour.  Overall, we had lots of laughs, but I will be haunted by the boys forever for this dumb idea for nighttime entertainment.
